It’s that time again… 👋🏼
We’re officially signing off our social media for the off-season.
After a (very) full high-season for the Design Hall team, I’m leaning into a slower summer, time offline, and space to recharge before we head into the Fall of 2025.
Some positive highlights from 2025 that are bringing me joy:
→ Our website revamp is finally complete 🙌🏼 Be sure to check out our revamped services pages!
→ For the first time, we were nominated for a business award. Besides referrals, our online presence is a big reason for the studio’s success. We appreciate being recognized for our hard work 💪🏼
→ I’m looking forward to celebrating our 5-year company anniversary this coming July. Through high’s and lows, I’m proud of how far I’ve come and look forward to celebrating the next big one!
What does this mean for you?
→ We’re still taking on new client projects (our inquiry link is always open)
→ We’re still working away behind the scenes with current clients
The only change? We just won’t be posting here until late summer, but you may see us pop up on Stories.
Our corner of Instagram will be a little quieter, but business carries on as usual. :)
Thanks for being here, supporting Canadian 🇨🇦, and trusting us with your homes this past season.
Speak soon!
“If I want to build in late 2025 or early 2026 when would I need to start the custom home design process?”
We recommend reaching out to us approximately 6 months before you’re looking to break ground to provide us with enough time to,
→ Deeply understand the ins and outs of your project
→ Create a preliminary layout and exterior concept
→ Make necessary edits to the first draft
→ Get your pre-construction ducks in a row
→ Finalize any tweaks or changes before breaking ground
With custom design, this timeline varies depending on project complexity, your pace of decision making and the square footage of the blueprint design.
So if you’re looking to break ground in April/May/June, you should be reaching out to a residential designer as early as NOW to begin the home design process.
If you have any questions or need clarification on the approximate timeline of your specific project, please don’t hesitate to DM us. We’d love to chat with you about your home design needs!

In case you needed this reminder,
Your home designer should prioritize,
Function > Form
Collaboration > Dictation
Your needs > Typical needs
Because at the end of the day, my goal isn’t to create a space that could be featured on Pinterest, it’s to create a space that feels good for you.
A well-designed home for YOU flows seamlessly with your lifestyle, supports your daily needs, and reflects your unique personality.
If that sounds like exactly what you’ve been looking for, we’re booking 4 weeks out!
You can have a beautiful, stylish home AND a well-designed floor plan that works seamlessly for your daily life.
You can enjoy open spaces that flow easily from room to room without feeling disconnected.
You can create a layout that maximizes every square foot without your space feeling cramped or "busy."
You can have a home that not only looks great but works for you, your family, and your needs, every day.
But if you keep ignoring how essential thoughtful space planning is, your dream home might turn into a frustrating space that just doesn’t function the way you need it to.
Your floor plan needs to be the foundation of your home, not an afterthought.
If you`re ready to start off on the right foot with designing your dream space, you know where to find us!
Your needs should guide your floor plan design...
If you love hosting dinner parties, your floor plan should look different than someone who prefers more quiet living. (If you don’t like hosting, I don’t blame you - I don’t neither)! 😅
An entertainer’s space thrives with open-concept areas and easy flow from kitchen to dining to living spaces, creating a natural vibe for gatherings.
For someone who prefers quiet, private spaces, a more compartmentalized layout with cozy, secluded rooms might be ideal.
If you have a growing family, your floor plan needs more bathrooms, larger common areas, and flexible rooms to accommodate everyone’s needs as they change over time.
Meanwhile, an empty nester might prefer a smaller, more intimate layout with minimal upkeep and easy access to everything on one floor.
Designing your home starts with understanding how you’ll actually use it.
Your floor plan should support your daily routines, making life easier and more enjoyable.
So, how do you use your home?
Ever wondered what a day in the life as an architectural technologist looks like?
Today, we’re giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what a typical day looks like for us from start to finish.
7AM: Wake up & get ready for the day
9AM: Make breakfast & answer emails
11AM: Design & drafting
12PM: Starbucks run & lunchtime errands
2PM: Design & drafting, continued
5PM: Warming up in front of the fire
6PM: Dinner, then hot yoga
9PM+: Bonus round of… *drumroll* drafting & design
Right now we have 13 projects on the go so there’s never a dull moment around here! 😅
Words directly from our clients 👇🏼
“We enjoyed working with Michelle for guidance on our exterior house renovation. She was very knowledgeable on products availability and performance. She took the time to explain every step with us...”
If you’re in the middle of a home project, you know it’s more than just picking colours.
There are *hundreds* of decisions to make like,
Floor plans, finishes, materials... the list goes on, and each choice shapes how your home actually functions and feels.
And when the decisions start piling up, it’s easy to feel stuck, overwhelmed or second-guess every move.
We understand, there’s a lot at stake.
“What if I make the wrong choice?”
“What if it doesn’t turn out how I imagined?”
“What if I regret it later?”
That’s why a collaborative partner in the process, makes all the difference. (That’s us)!
We break the process into manageable steps, so you never feel overwhelmed.
We help you filter through the seemingly countless options, so you’re not drowning in endless choices.
We point out the things that might impact your decision, that could be overlooked without professional guidance.
So that in the end, your home looks great AND works effortlessly for your lifestyle.
Spring has been a whirlwind for us, but we wanted to keep you in the loop!
We’re now booking meetings into late April, early May with a 3-4 week lead time—here’s what that means for you:
👉🏼 If we meet in May, your consultation and quote will be ready within a week.
👉🏼 Once the paperwork is signed and we start working together, your initial design concept will be delivered in June 2025, giving us time to refine and perfect every detail.
👉🏼 Over the next few months (June–September), we’ll fine-tune the plans, making sure everything aligns with your vision, budget, and any required approvals.
👉🏼 By the end of October 2025, your final plans will be ready to go!
👉🏼 You’ll have the late winter/early spring months to secure permits, contractors, and line up your project for a smooth start.
👉🏼 By Spring 2026, you could be breaking ground on your dream space!
Great design takes time.
Planning ahead = a smooth, stress-free project. Reach out today to get the ball rolling!
Think about the last time you felt cramped or frustrated in your home.
Do you know what the issue was? 👇🏻
Was it a lack of flow between rooms? Dim lighting in the middle of the day? A layout that just doesn’t work for your lifestyle? Rooms that feel too isolated or too close together?
...Or maybe your space just feels “off” - like it just isn’t right.
Why? Most likely, an awkward floor plan is the culprit.
And I hate to be the one to say it but new furniture or fresh paint isn’t going to fix the problem.
The only way to fix a poorly designed floor-plan, is with a well-thought-out, functional floor plan.
Once you optimize the flow, light, and layout for your specific needs, that’s when your home finally starts to feel right.
And that’s when living becomes easy and you wonder, “why didn’t we do this years ago?” ✨
